With her first #1 single and big-screen debut under her belt, Madonna embarked on her first tour.  On April 10 of 1985, the coyly titled "Virgin Tour" became an immediate and jaw-dropping success, and coined a new phrase in pop culture- the Madonna wannabe.  (In 1991, the term would officially end up in Webster's Dictionary...). The term was used to describe the throngs of women and young girls, who stormed stadiums all over America and Canada dressed just like Madonna.

As soon as the tour was announced, tickets started selling like crazy.  Every single one of the 17,672 tickets for Radio City's Music Hall in New York sold out at an astonishing and record-breaking 34 minutes.  Madonna was big business- and would end up grossing $5 million dollars.  Madonna simply exploded during at this point in time, and the frenzy caused by her is evident in her first official tour. Madonna's excitement and exuberance is blatantly seen here, and it's a must-have for any serious Madonna fan.

During the Virgin Tour's run, America noticed a 40% increase in sales of lingerie, and named Madonna solely responsible for this trend.  Madonna's influence as a fashion icon was starting to be seen here. This was just a small taste of what was to come.
